The punching bag is wrapped with the foam which helps to absorb the shock. Even though it is wrapped with the foam, it is one of the harder bags which I have owned. And definitely I would recommend you to use gloves during your training with this bag.
Over usage can lead to breakage, the first part that gets break is the neck. Anyway, still I work with my old bag.
